The Transforming Religious Side to being Spiritual

As a little boy i believed in such things like Santa Clause, Easter Bunny; I had a great childhood during these times and life was perfect. Little things just amaze a young child. Things get heavier as you grow and age. Self interests, business interests, family interests, community interests. All intermingle in great depths through the minds of us all. Throughout history each and every society has developed through the most fascinating survival tactic; Culture! All adapted through a mixture of environment and experience, all taught so the next generation can take the culture greater.
Religion can be thought as the culture of belief. Religion has helped society after society adapt to environment and explain, shape, and teach the people. I feel like I should at the very least bow to the presence of religion for aiding our advancements to where we are now looking at the brink of several life threatening diseases being cured. I do not think we would have our advancements without religion for a few reasons; one being that the natural traits needed for people to even want to find such advancements is the same traits that would explain why people created religion; curiosity, desire to understand, comfort, I'm probably missing some but you get the point. Second is religion I think has curiosity coming in multiple directions; the spark that started development of religion and then in return religion intrigues the mind, causing the people to go even further. I halfway suspect that ancients needed religion to stay sane.
Sometimes we stumble on something so amazing that human imagination would not of been capable to develop. When this happens we experience something uncomfortable, we naturally dislike, and we start working around to restore the comfort that was present before. Every culture has experience this a number of times, things that we now have in elementary schools and is thought to be upsurd otherwise. I often wonder if this conflict feels so much like an attack that the people who defend lose sight of what is not being attacked.
The conflict of Copernicus/Galileo vs Religion was no real conflict but just a new discovery of the universe that surrounds us. Unless you think that whatever religion you are is defined by such things like a verse that suggest the world is flat, then you should have no qualms. We are not capable of creating the rules we can only discover and work within its design. What doesn't sound like God there???
Now there is a respect of adaptation that I don't fully understand but acknowledge its existence. People are comforted in their religion, often to the point where it makes so much sense to them that alternatives just sound ridiculous. I am guilty of this by the first sentence of this paragraph, it sounds ridiculous that people would have a problem with just accepting scientific evidence when it supposedly contradicts the belief structure they are brought up on. Its typically just a detail and never a message. That is except evidence would suggest stoning people in the town square is not effective. In ancient times before Jesus I can understand how such a law was thought to be truth. They understood little of psychological, physical, microscopic, anthropological, populations where smaller, etc, etc. Jesus was the first in the Christian heritage to see the holes in such laws. His awareness to his fellow people was 10 fold of his peers. Thousands of years later collections of writings has been through quite the interesting journey. Though the hands of Kings to cultures of far distances, in nearly every language and found in almost every country, some places its illegal but that's beside the point.
We can't leave out the bad, Christians have advanced their religion through the use of violence. We once again have a growing religious conflict with Muslims. Why???
How is religion going to adapt to this modern world? We know the Earth is billions of years old, we know that life evolves, we know that we are no where near the center of anything but ourselves. I think its easy, we keep the spiritual side and religion will follow. Through out history the very fact that people kept the essence of being connected and just acknowledged that nothing really has changed. Her I'll put something in perspective; In the context of the Adam and Eve being made in 7 days, when Jesus said to love thy neighbor, what does he mean?? OR in the context of billions of years for life to develop, when Jesus said to love thy neighbor, what does he mean??
Whats the point to even have a religion now days?? I think that if you have a spirituality then your religion just is natural, cause its not the religion that matters, its not what you call yourself, its just what you do and how you present. Often people find rituals to create stronger effects of desirable emotions to a situation. Helping with self control and other aspects that one finds important. Religion is more or less just your culture that shapes and conforms your beliefs, its not something specific.

My Faith

We all live in a world that is short of absolute truth. In physics there is no connective theory that explains relative theory and quantum theory, but each explains different aspects of reality. In medicine there is no works for all diet or treatment for some sickness. Basically we are ultimately stuck to just running with whatever sounds the most reasonable. This is where many people can break a persons theories so I think its just best to get your groundwork laid out.
A lot of my own personal choices sound like its just feel good fluffy rainbows type of theory and I often get accused of this. However; I have found that the more I learn and experience the more this feel good fluffy rainbow theory becomes rationale. Now I know there are many bad things in life including things in nature like disease and disasters but I'll get to that later. For now I think its better to focus on something without so much complexity so the context is laid out.
Everyday we all are faced with decisions that greatly affect our well being. We decide to take up a workout program, what foods to eat, regular doctor visits (if can afford), and other options that all affect our personal health. Educationally we decide on where credible information is coming from, if a particular topic is even worth the effort, we decide on how, when, where, and what everyday or we just say its all bullshit. We make decisions on what work to get into and many other personal decisions. Many of these are blindly followed and for the most part you really have to just guess it till you know better, or think you know better.
Health wise I do not know my own personal levels of every detail of my health but what I have slowly started to discover is natural is best and to stay active. Which makes sense granted we are natural beings! So when approached with a decision that I have to make but I do not know the facts I tend to look in the natural and active area of dealing with the situation. That is my leap of faith.
Education is something I find to be the base of all the rest. It is my education that will ultimately lead me to a decision so it is my education that is my personal responsibility to grow and excel in. I don't think people realize how much you can grow by just digging into things an hour a day. I feel its my duty to question everything and to find the base source if possible. I don't tend to believe someone speaking of a politicians' ideals when they do not show the politician being spoken of. I do not tend to believe that a bill is being passed and represented properly if the bill name is not given. I ask who is being benefited from the information and find the background of the person giving the information. I routinely try to prove myself wrong though I don't let my own ideas die so easily. Check the source and check it often.
When treating to myself I look for simplicity in my own life and look to what makes me appreciate my life. I look for what makes me productive and efficient in my choice of work preference and style. I look for better connections with those around me. I find these things to bring much more greatness to my life and let me follow a path of decision making that benefits myself in various aspects of life.
Socially we need to build relationships; not only personal relationships, but work relationships and service relationships like with a doctor or your housemaid. If we have a public job that deals with many people then this will be taken to higher levels. People have the right to choose, but many people don't know what to choose. This does not mean they are stupid or retarded it just means they don't know what to choose. Many other people that deceive for their own personal material gain will gladly exploit the people in this state.
Everyday reactions affect people in various ways, some in light manners but some in very great manners. This could be in a positive way like inspiring someone to carry out a dream or in a negative way to where suicide is contemplated or even executed. Our social ethics is just another side of the coin from our own personal ethics. On the personal ethics we build our own lives to meet our ideals while the social ethics we build a community to meet our ideals.
The base of this is our personal ethics, most people respond better to what they see rather than what they hear. Many scientist study the ways we react socially and this gets applied in various ways. Our businesses have used this to create more efficient advertisements and even what and how to sell. Teachers use this to become for efficient at their jobs. Teachers and similar jobs are held to very high social responsibilities since they are setting the attitude for millions of children that will enter our workforce and government. Parenting studies have discovered more and more effective ways of raising children. Though yes this is not perfect it is showing significant results. Once again none of this is proven but the trend seems to be love, acceptance, and knowledge goes a lot further for the benefit of society than to judge, condemn, and exploit for personal gain.

So how do I narrow out this heap of mess to make a decision on who to vote for? Well for one thing I look at the tactics they are using. Politicians are typically very educated and understand various topics from social sciences to economics unlike the average voter. When I see someone using fallacies of appeal to gain voters to vote, I mark them down. Many politicians realize that people feel very passionate about social agendas like abortion and will emphasize this fact to areas that have a higher ratings of activist on abortion. On the other hand they will very rarely say anything on economical or foreign policy. If the politician is not well rounded in speaking I mark them down.
My own ideas are obviously not going to have proof just ready since well I'm just an individual with limited resources but I have developed an idea of what to work off of. It is roundness to policy! I shoot for a policy that has aspects for all social economical statutes, all religions, all races, etc. I look at all economic systems like capitalism to socialism and mark notes in all that work and are positive. I tend to find that the extreme to any side leads to greater failure. Each system tends to only answer certain questions of economy. Capitalism answers how to maintain a economy filled with independent people to work for what they want and earn. Socialism answers equality for all people, while Libertarians answer complete freedom, and Monarchies create efficiency and immediate results. Each has a hand in all the other questions but emphasize only on the one while the theorist just assume that their system does answer entirely all questions.  My leap of faith is that all questions can be answered if we just learn from all systems and how they worked and where they failed at.
Spiritually we have several options available. Each has people that claim to being the right one and each has people that take the more humble approach. Like I said earlier, I take education to be very important and this is no different in my spirituality. I think spirituality is primarily abstract so we can't just see it or touch it. With the observation of sociology and psychology I have seen a pattern that was not constructed by man but was created naturally. I think a lot of people overlook this when composing science with religion. However; what does this mean? I think its a spiritual connection that brings everything from us to black holes together. There is something amazing when you say a kind word to someone and they begin to smile, and even on its opposite state of being mean and bring sadness or anger.
I think ultimately science can show us the absolute truth and I do believe that an absolute truth exist its just we all have relative truths of this absolute truth. Science as of now is incomplete and may have a chance of always being like that. However; I think that's irrelevant! I think what is relevant is the patterns we find along the path. Which the deeper you look you find all that fuzzy rainbow stuff. Optimistic thinkers tend to live healthier lives and accomplish more throughout life. Optimism does not mean you do not acknowledge the bad in life so just get that out of your head.
Now the bad in life, the part that just seems to throw people away from any type of religion or spirituality. People die and sometimes in gruesome ways. Disease has wiped communities out along with tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunami, and of course war. Lets turn to an angle I'm sure most have not taken. Imagine the world if every person that was born lives to old age. With the lack of technology to use resources efficiently throughout time we would of sucked our resources dry and all of us would be in trouble. I think natural disasters and disease is a random way for nature to maintain our survival. I also look at this as this means that the whole is much more important than the individual. So I tend to disregard theories that only focus on individuals, though of course the individual is important to the individual so not to completely take this focus out of the picture.
You can take anything and find something that either is symbolic and serves a enlightened purpose or directly has a positive impact for the whole. We must not forget that things like heroin exist that I really don't understand why do not let AIDS patients inject when on their death beds. Heroin is a very powerful painkiller that comes from a flower with little processing needed. To me this says nature is offering ways for us to ease the suffering that must exist till we can develop a world of utopia.
I tend to find on a personal path that the study of psychology is the most beneficial then on social behavior and policy making sociology is the most influential. The spirituality is the abstract reality that connects all of that. My leap of faith is that things do make sense and that through love and peace we can accomplish the greatest deeds. I think science will lead us to healthier lives and capabilities of more efficient use of our resources. My faith can not be proven but many trends can be observed. It is these trends that will show us the path. When you see a negative trend look deeper and you will see that the whole picture was not noticed.

The Beauty of a Hypocrite and its Evil Cousin the Liar

We have all done it! We have spoken on one side then played the other. It may of been unintentional or just straight up an accident. We are creatures of habits, so can we really be blamed? Well personally I just find that to be a waste of time. There are so many hypocrites that are out there that we cannot just pick and choose off this very factor. At least Hypocrites speak the truth (or at least believe it to be true), its the liar that we should be worried about.
We are born, raised a particular way, enter a world of diversity, and change the entire time. Its hard to change your own personal habits but its possible. After actual work you can fully take your daily routine and create a new habit. During this time you will have the beliefs that you developed in this forever changing life, these beliefs could be a new discovery and contradict your own patterns. You are therefore a hypocrite! How dare you speak the truth to the masses and you yourself carry one your own old habits.
All I can say is at least this hypocrite is speaking the truth. If the person who tells you to brush your teeth does not themselves brush their teeth, does this mean that brushing your teeth is wrong? No, of course not this hypocrite that does not brush their teeth just has to suffer the consequences, but at least he is speaking the truth to others and the ones that listen will benefit.
It is the cousin that is the one to worry about. Though participates in much the same behavior the liar has an extra attribute, he seeks to deceive. This is the blinding force towards regular hypocrites that causes disturbance in our little corner of the universe. Since the liar and the hypocrite both do something other than what is said, many people fall into thinking all hypocrites are liars. We must not overlap these two in such harsh ways. Better yet we must not get into the personal life of the speaker.
I think we can solve much more by just listening rather than watching to ensure this person is 'perfect'. As an individual it is best to practice what one preaches but also as an individual if I hear truth then I hear truth. If the person is not wise or strong enough to carry out his/her own voice of wisdom then that is their fault. The liar is what I'm worried about, but the liar already speaks falsehood so he is really irrelevant. He is just some small miniscule voice that just falls into the masses ready to be discarded by knowledge.
Instead of wasting our time digging into every detail of someones life, just let them live and decipher the message yourself, then live the life as you see to live. Yes we should check credibility of the speaker, but that just means seeing how much experience the person has on the issue not seeing if they smoke pot. I think as a species that is growing we would get much more done by finally throwing out the irrelevant and getting down to the point. Listen to the hypocrite, much wisdom can be said.

The Greatness of being an Amateur

As a young college student, I and fellow students have great opportunities that our elder intellects do not. We have the power of a fresh new look and the courage to explore in theories. I'm not going to say that the elders do not have great opportunities but I am going to emphasis the greatness of amateurs. We are the potential of knowledge.
Though I'm untrained and have a vast amount of information that needs to be considered, I have the ability to slip my mind into any of the fundamental theories and access them from a fresh point of view. I can dare to stand in a position that others hesitate on. I am free to be wrong without the assumption of being right. As an amateur I am free!
When an amateur makes a mistake its a learning experience, but when the experienced are wrong then its a career set back. When an amateur is correct then much pride and glory is given, but when the experienced is right it is expected. This is truly a time to cherish as it will perish with time.
This is a unique experience that can truly set the fundamental blocks of something greater. I urge the teachers of amateurs to respect and acknowledge this once in a lifetime experience. Teachers need to nourish this in our students and dare them to stand out. Only then will we be able to see the hidden truths that this world has to offer.

Supporting the Military, Not War

War has been around since man could form into groups and cross with other groups. It almost seems like it is never going to go away. Maybe it is never going to go away, I am not intending to make a case on that. What I am wanting to express is that War is not something to just so easily decide to do. For the time being I can still think of situations where I would pick up arms and fight, however I will not just jump to the conclusion.
As for the purpose of having a military, I see many reasons. I see an organization that signs up to do what their country sees to be of importance. This could mean several things; reconstruction after natural or man-made disasters, securing any threats towards medical outbreaks, providing foreign countries aid if asked, etc. The men and woman who sign up to serve deserve the up most respect for whatever they are asked. Even if I disagree with what they are asked to do, like engaging in pointless wars, they still deserve my hats off respect at full attention.
These men and woman knowingly sign up to a world of unknown situations. They can be legally killed by an opposing military by any means our enemies see fit. The world still holds times when a terrorizing group of individuals will attempt to take control of a city/state/and or country with means of violence. This leaves the citizens with nothing but fear, this is a time where I do see helping a region with means of war. However this is a very tricky situation, we can not take the people's identity from them. If a countries leader is ruthlessly using inhumane control tactics towards his/her people then I do feel it is necessary to contribute to the people but only in a way that the people maintain control over how this is done. Get them power and help as they see fit.
The Iraq people will now always have to identify themselves with America in the background, this can lead to feeling incapable of managing themselves when the time comes. They can not hold that pride we do as Americans when we rose against the English. Now with us the French have a large part in our success against the British, yet the French helped while the American people called the shots of how this is to happen. Iraq did not have this, we controlled! Now weather or not this is going to be some permanent problem that will affect Iraq for now on, I don't know. However we as Americans should respect cultural identity.
We jump to war like its a game, we toy with lives like its just better luck next time. We forget by the next decade what damage we have done to ourselves. We use the dead as an excuse to kill more, pretending like we dishonor them if we say war is bad. You can never take the honor away from a man who died doing what his/her country has said to do. This is admirable weather the war was just or not.
We need to separate the human being from the act of war. We need to value life as if all was our own life. We need to understand that we are not the only country that has honor and pride for ones country. We need to realize that our foreign relationships will set the tone for our fellow citizens who work in foreign lands or vacation. We need to realize that the lives that honorable sign up to serve need to be considered when we jump to conclusions that deal with foreign policies.

Picky, Picky, Picky

Now I have to admit that I sound like a redneck and my grammar often sucks. I'm a West Texan that moved to Indiana, what do you expect? I find a big difference in language 'errors', that a lot of my peers who hold intelligence as high up as I do, with a different spot light. Really just get your point across! Now I do know that maintaining a certain degree of proper grammar is a necessity if you wish to accomplish that goal. In the situations that make your point unclear then yes fix your grammar. However many so called intellects take this to a whole new level.
I understand the differences with two, to, and too but really when someone starts to make some event over a misplaced too I wanna slap them for calling themselves an intellect. Its like intellects cannot make an error or that they cannot just realize that a typo has happened. I have heard people completely throw out something because of a wrongly placed too, at least if its coming from someone that is an amateur (and it is not their language teacher). Let one of their idols make the error and all of a sudden its just a typo. Now this is not to be mistaken that I do not respect or understand a comment to correct it.
I am not a fan of George W. Bush but I got sick of hearing all the times a person used his mispronouncing of a word to be a reason to say he is wrong. People where capable of telling us what the word was that he mispronounced and yes George W. may want to learn this, so that is shows the people that he has experience with the issue. Honestly though we cannot waist our time being peoples auto correcter when other more important issues need to be discussed.
Now what if I say; you wanna go do somethin! Now can you tell me what I am saying? If you can't should you reassess that you claim yourself an intellect? Intellects typically have a desire to get things right which is great and I support that in all ways, but great ideas come out of nowhere and ignoring something cause of a misspelling or the wrong 'too' is what I think retarded. Words are only what we make of them and I think that intellects forget this.
If you want to be a writer then grammar is important for the most part and probably more so. There is a limit of just to damn picky. Don't discredit someones intelligence for having improper grammar or misplacing a word or two, discredit them for improper logic. Not everyone is a English, or whatever language you speak, expert. Be productive on your corrections when you find someone brilliant. Instead of just ridiculing, suggest and enlighten. Explain what a reader could perceive their statement as with this error. If it does not affect the meaning of the sentence or paragraph then really is that important to have it proper.

A World of Many

In this world we have many beliefs and traditions. Some wars have been started over this fact, so at first glance this seems like its something bad. But is it?? I mean really. Just because some groups of people think that this guy is the guy to listen to, while this group claims another guy; is that really a problem?? Now if you are saying yes, just follow me for a min and see where I'm going with this. I promise it won't hurt.
Lets pretend for a min that this is not a problem! So what is? What is it that really makes people lash out in the most horrific act people can engage themselves in? Now if the problem was that it is merely culture and religious difference, wouldn't that mean if a Christian of any kind walked up to a Muslim of any kind and they would start fighting? Which is obviously not true. Would it 1 throw you off if I suggested that is a common idea or 2 that these people share is what is stirring up all the trouble? Really the people that get along with other cultural beliefs don't have an urge to kill one another and they acknowledge the differences they share. Self Righteousness and detailed literal translations is the real problem. The idea that only I can be right! Which sounds really funny when they are fighting over stories that sound very much like what you would see on a Disney movie!
However acknowledging this brings up another issue with these self righteous people that honestly see the righteousness in ones beliefs. They feel that people who do not see that extremeness is pushing their beliefs to be something that you pull out when you feel like it and that its really not that important. They feel insulted to be told this! Now what! It is like you have to decide to let them lash out on the others or take the lashing yourself. Well Fuck that I don't want some tongue lashing that can very much turn into more.
Tell you the truth I don't know if there is some proper way of handling this situation, what I do know is holding your own beliefs to be what everyone else should think then inflicting them causes nothing but destruction and that I personally do not want as my goal. Yeah sure I think I'm right! DUH they are MY BELIEFS of course I think they are right or I would think something else. But I see that in me so chances are the guy next to me thinks his ideas and beliefs are right or he would think something else.
Here a little other factor you should be aware of. There are many factors, like billions upon billions. Now think about your little philosophy can you think of all them billions upon billions of factors with your little idea. Of course not we as humans probably don't even know all them factors we are still discovering them. We really shouldn't even come to a conclusion at least not a whole conclusion. We should at least acknowledge the margin of error and uncertainty principle.
Does all this say that someone does not actually believe in their own beliefs, given whatever they are? I don't think so I think its practicing humbleness and gives truth a chance. We can now gather in masses with many perspectives that have different experiences to lay out. What each has learned and  to be able to look at all them from a stand back perspective. As for details on personal beliefs, Yay!!! you believe in them that is for you to believe. Only things that society should be concerned with is what directly affects society. If you believe God made Adam and Eve, Good for you! If you believe in evolution, Good for you! What has been accomplished, minus the fact that other scientist can discover newer things. That is for the people that believe in evolution to worry about. As for you Adam and Eve people continue on your not changing anyone's minds and you are not hurting anyone and if the non-believers burn in hell well I'm pretty sure they know about the story now its their choice not yours.
Before I end this blog I do wanna comment on one more thing. I think that this difference is beautiful on a spiritual level. I think that God has done this on purpose so that we can get into our heads that this complex society of ours is more then just some specific belief we have. I think that with this truth of cultural and religious difference we will someday be forced to see that its about all of us, as people here on earth sharing the same resources and shitting the same way!
